Who we are & what we do.

We’re motivated by our passions: Aviation and photography. The rest is guided by imagination and common sense.

Our Mission

To do what we do best with a passion, with confidence that the outcome will be exceptional.

Our Values

Respect for oneself, respect for others, respect for our environment,  honesty, responsibility, effort and professionalism.

Our history.

For many years, in Ecuador, authorities had not heard about plane-spotting nor aviation photography.  Therefore, it was hard to go about this hobby without being harassed, censored or detained.  The problem was a lack of information by authorities, so somebody had to tell them what this was about.

The blog.

That’s why in 2008, Ecuador Aviation Photography (EAP) was founded.  It began as a blog whose whole purpose was to inform our society and specially aviation authorities about plane-spotting, while uniting all spotters, aviation-photographers, historians, and aviation enthusiasts in the country.  The blog published short entries and news about aviation, plane-spotting and interesting facts.  As time went by, the entries became more complete, informative and interesting for the public in general.

With time EAP became known among the people in aviation and organized get-togethers to get to know other people who enjoyed this activity.  In the meantime, we reached out to the authorities to come clean and organize a truce.  Despite their being interest on behalf of the authorities, this didn’t happen until two years later.

The events.

Finally, in 2013 things changed.  While in Quito EAP had established a good rapport with aviation authorities and was negotiating , in parallel, AeroMundo Magazine was doing the same in Guayaquil.  On July 27, 2013 the first ever spotting event in Ecuador took place inside Guayaquil’s airport.  This event showed authorities nationwide that plane-spotting was a bigger thing than they had thought.

During the second half of 2013, EAP worked together with Quito’s airport authorities to make plane-spotting possible.  A few test runs took place during that time, and on March 2014 Quito’s airport welcomed the first group of plane-spotters.  This first event took place with members of LAAS (London Amateur Aviation Society).  After this successful event, the first spotter day took place on June 28, 2014.

Given the great outcome of this first spotter day, more events of this nature took place inside Quito’s airport until 2020.  Our spotter days became so popular, that people from various countries flew in only for the event.   After the pandemic it took some time to get back to normal, so we were able to resume our spotter days in 2023.

Involvement with the spotter community.

In addition to the spotter days, we’ve published different guides for spotters, and have been involved in informing the public about plane-spotting, aviation photography, aviation history, and everything related to this passion we share.  We’ve been featured in local media outlets, and our photographs have been published in different publications worldwide.

EAP Aviation Tours

But, even before EAP was created, we’ve had the pleasure of taking foreign plane-spotters and aviation photographers that visit our country to different locations where they could observe and get good photos.  At first we only helped individual spotters, but then we were contacted by groups of spotters that wanted to visit us.  With the creation of EAP,  we’ve been able to help with the planning and execution of different visits and tours to Ecuador in a more formal and organized fashion.

Given the great experiences spotters have had in Ecuador, we’ve been asked to organize tours to other parts of South America.  This led us to divide EAP in 2 parts: EAP, which is aimed for the local spotter community, and EAP Aviation Tours which focuses on aviation tours to Ecuador and other parts of Latin America.  With this our project
